Welcome to week four at OOSH.
Our term has begun with the usual Winter activities of French knitting and plenty of activities using wool, including gods eyes and knitting. Our educator, Tully, has been giving the children drawing lessons, so keep your eye open for some sensational works for the fridge. Lots of indoor activities with the wet weather, including some amazing lego creations. Mobilo has also made a big comeback at OOSH, if anyone has any they would like to donate to us, we would be extremely grateful.
Although the weather has not been on our side, we have been making the most of the undercover area on the basketball courts with games of Megs eggs and ship to shore, two great games that encourage the kids to work both as a team and individually.
Our vacation care program is completed and we have some wonderful activities planned. We will be off to Ninja Warrior play centre at Brookvale and Ten Pin Bowling. Our incursions will include the enormous Rock Climbing wall and Laser Tag. The program and the booking forms will be available in week seven.
After 24 wonderful and fulfilling years at OOSH I have made the very difficult decision to resign from my position. This centre has been more than just a workplace for me, it has been my second home.
I am especially grateful for the bonds I’ve built with the children and their families. Some of these connections have grown into lifelong relationships that I will treasure. It has been an honour to be a part of their growth, learning and daily lives. One of the most heartwarming experiences has been seeing the children we once cared for return to the centre as staff members, watching them grow, flourish and now give back to the same community that supported them is a testament to the strong, nurturing environment we have all helped to create.
The support I have received, particularly during the most painful periods of my life, the loss of my son in 2007 and the recent loss of my husband is something I will always carry with deep gratitude.
Throughout my time here, I have witnessed incredible growth within our service and have been proud to contribute to countless improvements that have enhanced the care, safety and joy we provide for the children and their families. Being part of this journey, helping to shape and support a nurturing environment has been a very fulfilling experience.
Although sad to leave I am looking forward to an exciting new adventure.
