Fee Increase
Due to increases in running costs, Avalon School OOSH will need to increase session fees at the end of the financial year. Looking back, We have not not had a fee increase for over five years.
From the start of July, the Vacation Care daily fee will increase to $75 per day. We feel that this is comparable with other centres where a daily rate is charged and a further fee is added for incursions, excursions and other activities to cover costs. Our fee is and will remain inclusive of all activities. When broken down this would still equate to less than $7.50 per hour.
At the beginning of term 3, our After School Care fee will increase to $25 per session. Before School Care will remain unchanged at $15 per session until 2023.
These fees will continue to be subsidised under Child Care Subsidy.
The Government $500 BASC vouchers are also available to all Families via Service NSW.
We welcome any Parent feedback on this proposed increase. Please send all correspondence to: info@avalonoosh.com.au
Kind regards,
Avalon School OOSH

Once again thank you to everyone who attended our Parents night last Thursday evening.
We would like to invite all parents to attend our first Committee Meeting next Tuesday at 6.30pm. We usually keep our meetings pretty short and sweet as we do understand that coming out to a meeting after working all day is not everyones cup of
tea, however perhaps a glass of wine and some nibbles could entice you. In future we will conduct our committee meeting the week before the P & C meeting so we can tender our report.
We really need parental support to run the centre as decisions made by us are based on your needs, making your input very welcome.
Could everyone please, please, please check lost property from the school holidays. All school clothing left at the end of term has been taken to the school lost property. There is still a lot left over from the school holidays. We will be disposing of it all on Friday 13th if not collected.
Thanks everyone, have a great weekend and Happy Mothers day to all our Mums, Nanas, Aunties, Stepmums and “other mothers” we are all lucky enough to have. We hope you all enjoy your cold cups of tea and soggy toast.

Committee News & Strike Day
Thank you everyone who attended our parent evening last night. The staff thoroughly enjoyed being able to welcome our parents into our centre again, showing a snapshot of OOSH behind the scenes and giving our families a better understanding of how we work.
We are also very excited to be able to form a committee. Our committee meetings will be the Tuesday before the P & C meeting so we are able to present them with a report. All parents are very welcome to attend. We will send out a reminder beforehand.
Next Wednesday there is a teachers strike. OOSH WILL NOT be open for before and after school care. We are unable to offer an all day service.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the school holidays. We hope you all had a fantastic time. We certainly enjoyed the first Vacation Care in some time where we were able to present a program without changes due to COVID.
All our staff loved spending time with your children. They were all extremely well behaved and given the fact that we had a few rainy days to contend with, we all managed to stay fairly dry thanks to being able to make use of Elouera once again.
We had a bit of a swap on Friday for our excursion. As Billarong Reserve was not an option due to rain, the children enjoyed a sausage sizzle at OOSH, we went to Avalon Cinema and came back to OOSH where Daphne made a warm fire and the children toasted marshmallows.
Please make sure you have confirmed your days for this term. They do roll over, but if you are not needing your child to attend any days, please let us know as soon as possible. We have a long waitlist of parents desperate for care after school, so we would really appreciate it if you could give up a spot no longer required.
Don’t forget our get together on Thursday evening. We are all looking forward to being able to catch up with our parents and hopefully form a committee for our centre. Our staff will be there to meet you all. If you haven’t already, please let us know if you will be attending. We will be providing some nibbles and a glass of wine.

We hope you have all had a wonderful, restful Easter break.
The first week of the holidays was full of fun and of course the ‘rain challenge’. We managed, thanks to having a great bunch of kids who were all pretty flexible with changes we had to make to the program.
On Monday we were clowning around making juggling balls and learned some fantastic circus tricks. The kids spent the afternoon trying out their new skills. Tuesday our Special Visitor Ali came to the centre and showed us some wonderful ways of creating art from plants and flowers. Some of the children’s creations were absolutely beautiful. We will put them on our website this week for everyone to see. Unfortunately the rain spoiled Wednesday’s incursion of Nerf Invaders. It was far too dangerous to have the inflatable. Hopefully the children who were here enjoyed the Nerf gun fun in the hall. Matteo and the girls set up a pretty amazing obstacle course for them to compensate. Our Kites were a huge success. We even saw a couple flying overhead over the weekend.
We are fully booked for the week and have no spots available now for Tuesday, the Pupil Free day.
This week we have lots of exciting activities for the children to enjoy. We hope the beautiful weather holds up for us.
Please remember that your kids need morning tea, afternoon tea and lunch packed for them.
We don’t provide food unless it’s stated on the program.
Today we finally enjoyed our visit from unicorns, the kids have been patiently waiting for this day for so long as we have had to cancel twice before due to covid. It was a brilliant activity which all the children enjoyed. Tomorrow we have Dragon Tao in the afternoon. Unfortunately Ali, who is doing our Art of the Zine incursion was double booked for Thursday. She is going to come in tomorrow morning. If your kids are coming and you have any magazines or papers you want to get rid of, please send them in. We know this is going to be such fun that we are going to carry the activity over to Thursday so that the children can make their own magazines and comics etc. to bring home.
If you are booked for Friday’s excursion, you will need to have the children here no later than 9.00am. The bus will leave at 9.30 and return by 3.00, we will not wait for latecomers.
Make sure the children have suitable clothing for the weather, a hat, refillable water bottle and food. We will be having a sausage sizzle at the park.
Don’t forget our get together next Thursday the 28th at 6.30 after OOSH closes. This is an opportunity for parents to meet with all our staff and other parents utilising the centre. We need to form an OOSH committee and need your support.
Avalon School OOSH is a parent run centre, we need your input to function to be the best we can be and to provide the care, support and activities you want for your child.
Please email if you will be attending so we can cater accordingly.
End Of Term 1 Newsletter
First term is over!!!!! What an amazing start to the school year we have had. Our kindy children have been amazing. They have all become part of our OOSH family creeping into our hearts and making themselves completely at home. We have also had the opportunity to meet some new families in our area and welcome them to Before and After School care.
Over the last we have had a few children move on to other after school activities, as a consequence have a couple of spots available for after school care. If you were on the waitlist and have not yet been allocated a spot, please email and let us know to confirm you are still interested.
Make sure you get your bookings for vacation care in by tomorrow night. We have some amazing activities planned for the children so please go to our website, check out the program and get those booking forms in so you don’t miss out. Be aware that when booking the form will NOT allow you to enter any days that are at capacity.
You may also notice some new faces amongst our staff. Please say hello Caitlin, Francesca and Matteo and introduce yourselves. We are so happy to have them come aboard bringing their energy to OOSH.
Thank you to all the parents who replied to our invitation to join us on Thursday, April 27th for our OOSH get together. We are very excited to be in a position to welcome you all after not being able to have a Christmas party or any form of social activity with our families for such a long time. We are hoping to reform our Committee and welcome anyone who would be interested in supporting us.
If we are not going to see you over the holidays, we hope you have a wonderful break and a very happy Easter and we look forward to seeing you all in term two.

OOSH Newsletter
This week at OOSH has been a lot of fun for all of us.
Thankfully we had Eloura to fall back on when we couldn’t play outside. The OOSH team cannot tell you how grateful we were this week to be able to take advantage of this space. We were able to play some outside games inside which gave some of our more exuberant kids some space to burn off a bit of energy.
The children are expressing their interest in cultural backgrounds and as many of you have already advised, we have many within our centre to explore. Please keep sharing your family histories with us and any craft activities suitable for the children to try. If you have any family recipes you would like to share please let us know. We are always looking for interesting and new ideas for afternoon tea, especially anything we can make in bulk to feed 80 kids.
Could everyone please check your children’s shoes. We had one boy leave a pair behind last Tuesday after the torrential rain. They are nowhere to be found at the centre, so we can only assume they have been picked up by mistake. If you find them could you please return them to OOSH.
Thank you to all the children and parents who have contributed ideas to our holiday program. The program and booking form will go live next Friday evening at the following address:
https://avalonoosh.com.au/vaca
This booking form is for registered Families who already utilise Avalon OOSH.
If all outstanding fees from previous attendances have been settled, or you pay fortnightly for your Before/After School Care, your booking submission can be considered accepted. If you are unsure as to whether your account is up to date, please contact us.
An auto generated email with a copy of your booking confirmation will be emailed to you as proof of booking. When a particular Vacation Care Session is booked out, it will be removed from the booking form.
Please consider the days you choose carefully. We DO NOT offer swapping of days. We DO NOT offer refunds for change of mind. We will only consider a refund or day in lieu with a medical certificate and if we have availability. We are strictly limited to the number of children we can accommodate.
Thanks everyone for your support.
