Term 1 Newsletter

Hi everyone and welcome to a New term at Avalon OOSH.

What a wonderful time we all had over the school holidays. We were extremely busy despite a few families going down with the dreaded Covid.

The kids were absolutely amazing. We again had to adapt and think on our feet as a few of our activities had to be cancelled altogether or substituted. Thankfully our kids are made of rubber and bend to the occasion.
We sang and danced, we cooked and baked, we got very dirty and glittery. We made cubbies and home made swings. We ran under sprinklers and explored our own school grounds, going on treasure hunts. We had a lovely time introducing some “old fashioned fun”

We had a fantastic day learning new skills, woodworking and making our own lamps to take home. Our science day was an enormous success. The kids were talking about it for the next week. We had some great highs………our homemade playdough. And some lows……..the kinetic sand was to say the least…..interesting.

Of course the messier or the noisier the more fun was had.

We also welcomed a lot of new kindy kids who, we must say, surprised us with their confidence. I don’t think we had any tears and if there were, they were very short lived.

We are also very proud and pleased to note that not once were we asked for computers. They had been put away at the end of last year. The kids were obviously enjoying their fun in the great outdoors too much to bother.

Their behaviour on our Movie excursion was exemplary. Taking 70 kids to the movies is no mean feat, having 70 sit still throughout the movie is pretty incredible. We were extremely proud of them all.

Thank you to everyone who has booked their children for this term. Your booking does not roll over from last year. We are now fully booked Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for After School care, with a waitlist.
We only have placements available for Monday and Friday afternoons.

At the moment we have spots available for every morning.

PLEASE NOTE

If your child has any allergies or asthma you will need to fill in an action plan for 2022.
If your child requires an EpiPen you will need to provide a current one to be kept at the centre.

If you child has allergies and you would prefer to provide your child with their own afternoon tea, you are more than welcome to do so.

January Newsletter

Welcome to a new Year at Avalon OOSH.

We hope you all had a happy & restful Christmas break.

As Vacation Care is due to commence on Monday, we feel it’s important to touch base with some important information:-

We are all  aware of the situation regarding work places being incapacitated after large numbers of staff testing positive to COVID-19. This situation fortunately has not affected us, However, we need to advise that should we receive notification of a positive case at the centre, we will be required to take appropriate steps.  Of course, all families will be notified immediately.  We ask in advance for your understanding should this occur.

We ask that if your children are unwell, please keep them at home.  If they become unwell whilst in care, we will advise and ask that they be collected immediately.  The health and safety of your children and our staff is of paramount importance.

Please keep drop off and pick up to the outside area.  We will have a staff member available on the deck if you require any assistance.

Our program may once again need to be modified to accommodate the circumstances.  We will strive to operate as per normal, with minimal disruption.

Our week one bookings have been finalised, we won’t be taking any further bookings.

If you are booked in, please remember your sun hat, shoes, refillable drink bottle, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.  Don’t wear good clothes, we intend to have fun, get down and get dirty, sticky and painty.  Please throw in a towel and a change of clothes, we like to have a bit of a splash under the sprinklers to cool down when it’s hot.  We will be keeping the children outdoors as much as possible.  We are all looking forward to greeting you and your children next Monday.

Any of our available spots for weeks two and three are listed on our booking form:
https://avalonoosh.com.au/vacation-care/.
We will not be accepting bookings via email.

Any Families from term 4, 2021 who attended the last week of School and Pupil free day will be invoiced for this on Tues, 11th Jan.

For 2022 Families, your annual registration fee will be listed on either your Vacation Care invoice, or your first invoice of term 1.

Latest Newsletter – Term 4

OOSH NEWSLETTER

Welcome back!!!!!!!!! It was so lovely to welcome the children to OOSH this morning and again this afternoon.

We are very excited about the rest of the year and can’t wait to hear some of the children’s suggestions for January Vacation Care.

If you have already advised us of the days you require for the rest of the year, please do not reply to this email.

If you have not yet replied to our previous emails regarding before and after school care and your requirements for this term, you need to do so immediately. If we have not had a response by Wednesday, your spots will be cancelled and allocated to someone on the waiting list for this term.

On Friday we will have our annual OOSH Halloween Party for the children.
If you are not registered to attend on Fridays and would like your child to attend, please email so we can add them to the roll.
We will serve up a spooky afternoon tea, play some scary games and play some tricky tricks. If your child is attending and would like to bring dress up clothes they are welcome to.

Thanks again everyone for your ongoing support over the past few months. We could not have asked for a better bunch of kids to play with during lockdown.

Vacation Care

Thank you all for completing our survey to allow us to prepare for the holidays.
I know some of you have already indicated the days you require, however, you will need to fill in the registration form at the link below.

https://forms.gle/qfTrkbvGML47gwFHA

This form is specifically for these holidays as there is a cut off point for the number of children we are able to accommodate.

Under the current guidelines we can only have minimal children and staff on the premises.  Please get this form completed and back to us as soon as possible.

We will not have any incursions or excursions these holidays.  The completed holiday program will be emailed next week with our newsletter and posted on our website.

Next week we will also be utilising electronic sign in for the children.  A staff member will be on standby to offer any assistance.  Although given the number of times we are signing in and out wherever we go now, we don’t envisage having any problems.

Thanks everyone for your patience and support at this time.  Keep up with our shenanigans on our facebook page.

This week in OOSH

As you can imagine it’s been a pretty quiet week at OOSH.

We have had plenty of time to work on our Quality Improvement Plan and will have it ready for viewing later in the year.

This week we made our marmalade.  We collected the oranges from the fruit trees in the school grounds. We enlisted a couple of helpers for washing and  chopping and it wasn’t long before we were able to put it all into jars for the children to take home.

This afternoon we celebrated Olives 7th birthday. Sarah and Karen decorated the centre and made an afternoon tea party for the children.

We will be judging our colouring competition next Wednesday giving you all a few more days to get those entries to us. We have already had some pretty special works of art arriving in the “in box”.

We all miss you terribly and can’t wait to see you all again soon.  In the meantime we will keep you posted.

Have a great weekend everyone and keep an eye on our Facebook page to see what antics we are up to.

The OOSH team.

Latest News. Term 3 / Week 2

Hi  everyone,  we hope you have all survived another week of lockdown and are looking forward to the weekend.

Karen and Sarah are still here before and after school , keeping the home fires burning and taking the opportunity to work behind the scenes making  improvements to your centre. We are currently working on our new Quality improvement Plan and would love to hear from you with any ideas you or your children may have for improvement.  We are open to hearing what you would like, don’t like no matter how crazy it may seem.

We are also working on the Spring holiday program and already have some exciting incursions booked.

As today is international pyjama day, this afternoon we will be in our Pyjamas and slippers, serving milo and marshmallows as a special Friday treat.

Next week we are having a colouring competition.  Follow the link to our website and download your favourite picture to colour in.   https://avalonoosh.com.au/news/
